Market Tales

Well, I survived!

The car packer/unpacker/setter-upper (AKA Hubby) had to work away from home this past weekend, so it was going to be a real test to see if I could play the role of pack horse in my pink cowboy boots!
I managed to get ready, though only just on time.  I was one of the first ones there at 7.15am, and one of the last ones set up by 8.45am...

I missed hubby because he was away, but missed him all the more because of the six trips back and forth to the car to bring stuff in!  And the six trips to pack the car at the end.  Yes, I was the last to leave...

Anyhow, I had an awesome spot at the market - it was spacious and right near the entrance to another room of vendors, so basically everyone had to go past me, which was really cool.

(that's mine there on the right, above)

The Malvern Town Hall is so beautiful.  Love the old historic town halls our great city has.

I had a fairly good day.  Being the very first Modish Creators Market, you never know how many people are going to come.

I'm thinking the word will spread that it was awesome, and there will be more and more people coming once it gets to be known as a regular monthly market.  The organisers are great, and really worked hard to make it a success.

I've signed myself up for August, September, October, November and December market dates.
(June 19th I can't do, Mum's turning 60 that day, it's not fair to ask her to babysit!!)

Now, I did go alone, but I wasn't alone all day... girlfriends came to visit!

Mandii in stripes (who was celebrating her birthday that day!) and Kirstie in the brown coat, came along with their families to check it out and say hi!  I was stoked to see them again!!!

After they went for lunch, Kirstie and her girls (oh I could squeeze these girls to bits, they're so adorable!) came back and spoiled me rotten - with a cupcake, water and chewing gum!  Precious!!!

Oh - and just to show you it's not all pretty, lol, the view from the back of my table.  Eek! what a mess!

I'm doing some rethinking of my products and presentation and I'll run some ideas by you guys one day soon, but for now, I'll leave it so there's not too much to take in at once.

See you next time,
Natasha xo

PS. To all the mothers out there, I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!

  4. Natasha everything looked beautifully displayed, love catching up with you at your markets as do my girls, as they cant wait to see you new cupcakes, they loved the little birdy cupcakes they bought from you, they "had" to hold them all the way home and put them on their night stand with the rest, as for me I really loved your new mothers day cards and I'm still kicking myself because I forgot to pick one before I left, do you still have any left as I would love to get some for next year.
Thanks for sharing the images of us all. Your truely a beautiful gal.....hugs Kirstie.

  7. Good luck to you Natasha with those monthly market days. It's always trial and error trying to figure out what people will like and how to draw them in. You'll figure it out and each time will be better than the last. Of that I'm sure. Wishing you all the best. :) Tammy

  10. I'm glad you had a good day, your space looks really sweet. I just found a frame for your print and it is going up on my wall today. (I have to get as much pink in that room before my strong Army boy comes home in 2 weeks to stay in there, LOL).
    Hugs,

  11. I'm so glad your first market at the Malvern Town hall went well Natasha. It is a beautiful venue and your stall looked so pretty and inviting. It takes a few markets to get word out and work up a following but I have no doubt you'll get your own fan club who'll come to check your beautiful offerings every month.

  19. Hi Natasha,

LOVE your blog and I've just read all your posts on this page - they're lovely.

Many years ago I lived in Melb for a year, we had a lovely old house in Kew. I loved the Prahran markets and some other big market in the city that was moved many years ago. I used to buy heaps of amazing clothes there.

I'm a Kiwi so I really enjoy your blog!

    Thank you for sharing!
