Limbo land!

Please excuse me for a while ~ I'm in limbo land at the moment....

My new laptop is here, this is the first post I've ever written using it....

However, not all my programs or files are on this laptop, and the PC is dying a slow death.  Right now it isn't working, but that could change tomorrow.  I'm between computers, but at least with the ability to check new emails, phew!

I'm waiting on a number of things - like some new programs to arrive, and friends to help me load those things onto my new friend, the laptop.

Plus, the market I'll be at is next week!!! Yikes!!!

So I'm taking a little time away from blogging, until I get this all sorted out. (But I will be visiting facebook, lol!)

Until next time, and I'm not exactly sure when that is....

I've decided...

... that this is MY year

I'm looking you in the eye, and making this commitment to my family, and to myself.
I am not going to worry so much about things I cannot control.
I'm going to stop looking sideways, losing focus on my goals and dreams.
I'm going to try new things, push my boundaries, get out of my comfort zone and stop fearing fear.

I'm determined.

I'm going to get a new camera for my birthday later this year, and learn how to use it properly.  Even do a course if I need to.

I'm going to test the waters at new art markets.

I'm going to write more.

I'm going to paint more.

I'm going to smile more.

I'm going to laugh more.

I'm going to love my family more.

I'm going to get healthy and fit again.

I'm going to learn to look after me.

I'm going learn that I am deserving of the good that comes my way.

I'm going to dream big.

This is my year, and I'm going to do it.

I'm going to stop procrastinating.

I'm going to be a better me, the best I can be.

Thanks for the ride so far, I hope you will stay with me for the rest of it, the fun part!

Yes Siree!

Wow ~ what a whole lot of amazing and pretty much unanimous advice!  Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to tell me what to do with the dress!  I think if I ever listed it on ebay now, you'd all email ebay and have it removed, you'd be mad at me :)

So I'm going to keep it.  For a while longer, while I enjoy it.  And to whoever asked or said I could wear it, lol, well my waist measurement is about 10 inches too big... even at my smallest, I had no hope.  It's not a wearer... it's a looker.  It's even too small for my mannequin!
Anyway ~ so much going on with me at the moment, I don't know if I'm Arthur or Martha!  My brain is so fried right now, I can't think of anything intelligent to blog about.... so I thought I'd show you these pics I found on my hard drive that I took last year...

...of the most fabulously perfect coloured mint green Vespa!  Is that the most adorable Vespa you've ever seen?  Quite a tame way of getting around on two wheels I feel... Hubby's talking about getting a real Fat Boy one day...and apparently I'll be "his bitch". His words, not mine.
Those Fat Boys make this sweet little green thing look tame, don't they?!

Anyway ~ reasons I'm not sure I'm Arthur or Martha as follows, and they're all pretty cool:
  • I am now a proud sponsor of my dear friend Jenn's Petticoats and Parasols event!  That doesn't mean I'm going to it, though I would almost maim something love to be there.  It's in Savannah, at the most amazing place.... you can read more about it on that linky.  Jenn's the Queen of ... I can't think of a word that encapsulates it... Queen of Everything? Queen of all things Frou Frou?  Queen of hosting magnificent events?  All of the above!
  • Tonight I just received my acceptance to have a table at this market, in less than a month!  That means I'll be whipping up a painted, fabric, cupcakey frenzy in the Burns household for the next 25 days....
  • I have a rather nice order from a fab Childrenswear label for some fancy handmade vintage lace jewellery... that needs to be made by yesterday!
  • I've mentioned before I'm going to be a guest curator at Crescendoh March 22 - 27 and I'm really enjoying choosing some of my favourite & most inspiring blog posts from fabulous bloggers.  I'm so excited to share them with you, some of them you may never have seen before and I am sure they'll knock your socks off!
  • As if that's not cool enough ~ I'm going to be a guest blogger over at Craft For Health sharing how living with art inspires me.  It's a great site full of inspiring stories, so it's such an honour that Kathy (who has written many books and is no stranger to appearing on many TV shows) would ever contact me and ask me for my story! Wow!  Anyway, that's happening on April 2nd, I'll link it here closer to the day
  • Plus another lovely lady, who I won't mention yet because I know she is flat out busy, is going to Spotlight my little ole blog too!  I'm seriously overwhelmed by the fabulous honours, I can't begin to tell you!

So those things are jumbling around in my head right now, frying it as best as they can.

But the million dollar question is... how and when will I get the taxation paperwork done?!

Off to the sewing machine now, tulle gathering on cuffs awaits me!

Should I keep it?

One of the things I do at the beginning of each year is decide that I am going to be more organised...

I wouldn't call it a New Year's Resolution, as I don't do those {because I never stick to them, so why bother?}.  But I do vow to try to get my life and home into some sort of order.

This usually happens while I'm at my parents' beach house, and I don't have the regular day to day jobs around the home to do.... so I'm always full of ideas and ways to de-clutter the house, organise the cupboards and file paperwork.

This year I was going to sell ONE of my 4 vintage tulle prom gowns.  Just one... because these gowns go on display around my home on the walls... and they're hard to walk past because they take up half the width of the hallway... But...

...when I put it on Violet Peony Rose, my lovely model....

...to take photos of it to use to sell it....

...well....

...I kinda, sorta, maybe, almost, possibly, probably, most likely have...

...changed my mind...I think...

I'm struggling here.  If only it wasn't vintage, and one of a kind.  The decision wouldn't be so hard then, knowing that once it's gone, it's gone.

What would you do?

What a bunch of Twihards

Things I've been doing this week...

  • Getting back into the groove.

  • The little guy started Grade One at school on Friday.  He's complaining already.

  • I started back at the gym yesterday after 9 weeks off (yeah, I know, naughty me).  Incidentally, today, I walked for over an hour in the heat, and thought it was all good.  Now it's 11pm and I can't move without being in agony.  That will teach me.

  • This week I've been trying to put away 5 loads of washing but various unexpected things have taken me out of the house.  The laundry can wait.  That's what I keep telling myself... but who knew it could pile up this high?

  • Tomorrow I plan to take down the Christmas decorations.  Yes, you saw right.  Seeing that I've only been home for a week, it's a job that has just had to wait until I can give it the time it needs.  That is if I can get my arms up tomorrow...

  • Thursday and Friday I'm working on that dreaded T word.... taxes.... ugh.... cringing...

  • I've taken pics of some new stuff I'm going to list in my shop, so that I can re-open it as soon as possible.  Doesn't help when I accidentally delete 40 photos off the camera before uploading them... making sure I have to re-take photos that I was really happy with the first time :(

  • I've been completely scared to do work on the computer for fear of losing it, or losing the backup on the external hard drive (yes, I'm paranoid!)... but I'm thinking positively, and I'm hopeful it's going to behave...

  • Oh, and I went to a Twilight party.

O. M. G.  What a fun time!  The hostesses thought of EVERYTHING.  Every detail, including the food, decor, music, games.... we all dressed up, like silly teenagers! It was fun to do something silly for a change!

Click on any of the pics to enlarge them....

I'll let the pics speak for themselves, DON'T BE FRIGHTENED!!! hehehe!!!

(I'm in the last pic, purple shirt.... I was Esme Cullen, and I've never worn so much makeup in my entire life!  Ugh my face felt awful! It even gave me 2 pimples!!!  It was rather difficult making myself paler than pale, in the middle of Summer, when I am at my darkest.. and I'm fairly olive any time of year...  But I did enjoy dyeing my hair red!)

Until next time!
