Recently I was asked to create a centrepiece for a wedding cake designer, for a vintage styled wedding she was making a beautiful cake for. Her bride’s invitation was so gorgeous, dripping with pearls and peony style flowers, in dusty pinks with mushroom-y browns.
I can’t imagine how amazing the wedding gown is going to be.
So this is what I came up with, and the cake designer loved it. Hopefully this will be the beginning of lots of wonderful OOAK collaborations for us to create for her brides.
Vintage and antique lace, vintage pearly beads and bits of silk fabric all twisted and stitched together.

I think they almost look like lace and pearl kebabs!
I often wonder what sort of wedding style I’d have if my wedding was now and not 13/14 years ago. But looking back, my gown was actually a lot like this, similar colours and style.
I guess I’ve always loved vintage style, even when it wasn’t fashionable to love it, and I’ll love it even when it’s no longer fashionable to love it any more!
I think it would make a gorgeous hairpiece and I’m going to work on a whole new range of other coordinating bridal pieces….the creative juices are flowing and now I just need some more hours in the day!!
